Handling Tough Work Weeks as Entrepreneurs

As entrepreneurs, life coaches, one of us a full-time employee, the other a full-time mother, our days are usually packed with multitasking, passion projects, and deadlines. We love what we do, and we thrive on juggling our various roles. But this past week was one of those weeks— where everything seemed to align (or misalign) at the worst possible time. Sound familiar?

Let’s talk about it.

When Work Gets Overwhelming (Yes, Even for Coaches)

At Lola Thrives, we usually pride ourselves on living the balanced life we preach—staying in tune with our feminine energy, being mindful of our cycles, and creating space for both business and personal well-being. But this week, despite all our best efforts, juggling just didn’t feel natural. In fact we hit many walls, and honestly felt defeated.

Between work commitments, sudden unexpected workloads (like covering for a colleague who quit), family life and the usual activities of managing our own business, things quickly became chaotic. And the kicker? All of this happened while we were deep in our menstrual phase—the phase where we’re supposed to slow down, rest, and reflect.

We know, based on the wisdom shared in our Cycle Tracking Mandala Workshop that this wasn’t the ideal time for any major commitments. Yet, life doesn’t always care about our careful planning, does it?

Crying, Complaining, and Ceiling-Staring: When It All Feels Like Too Much

We’re being honest when we say: this week wasn’t smooth sailing. There were moments of pure frustration, moments when tears felt inevitable, and yes, even moments where staring at the ceiling seemed like the only thing we could manage. Those first few days were tough—full of doubts and feeling stuck in a loop.

And you know what? That’s okay. Because even though we plan our lives around our cycles and practice mindfulness, sometimes life throws unexpected curveballs at you, and all you can do is roll with it. That’s what real life looks like, it’s part of the process, and we’ve learned to trust that.

Trust the Process (Even When It Sucks)

Here’s something we want every professional woman to remember: Stop punishing yourself every time life gets tough! Of course there are growth and plenty of learning opportunities in every situation, but in all honesty-life simply gets tough and sometimes there are no deeper explanations, or at least we haven’t mastered them yet. Not sure we ever will or if it’s at all in our plans!

But here’s the thing we’re focusing on at the moment: trusting the process! And let us just tell you how much that has changed the plot for us.

It doesn’t happen overnight, and it does take practice. But even in the toughest days, it allows you to experience ease and flow. Yes, it’s possible to experience difficult days and still feel an inner ease! There are many ways you can teach your system to trust the process. But you must first actually understand your system. The more you’re in tune with your natural flow, the more trust comes naturally… We have a full workshop on that, and at the moment it’s still available for free, so don’t miss the chance to watch the replay while it’s public!

Another way to nurture this unshakable trust, is by bringing your awareness to the present moment. Did we ever mention that before Lola was born, we went all in on a mindfulness coach certification? While we chose other coaching paths, the valuable information we learned is still part of our regular practices today. Sometimes we just need a full reset. We created our 7 day reset guide, as we marathoned through our mindfulness education back in 2023, and to this day we still refer back to it when it just so happens that we need a full mental reset! If you feel like this is you at this very moment, go check it out in our store while while you can still get it for only EUR9.99! Trust us when we say, you won’t regret giving yourself this “brain-cuddle.”

Practicing Breathing and Grounding Techniques

One of the most helpful practices we leaned on this week was focusing on my breath. We practiced square breathing—breathing in for four counts, holding for four, exhaling for four, and holding again for four. It’s simple but incredibly effective in calming the mind and body during moments of overwhelm.

We also took time to meditate and ground ourselves, in our own timing. Grounding meditations helped us connect with the present moment and create a sense of calm when everything felt like it was spinning out of control. These techniques reminded us that even when life feels chaotic, there are tools available to bring us back to center.

Mental Health Awareness: Success on Our Own Terms

Today is World Mental Health Day, and as coaches who value mindfulness, we wanted to take this opportunity to share our perspective on what success really means to us.

In the age of hustle culture, it’s easy to think that success is measured by constant productivity, hitting milestones, and always being “on.” But at Lola Thrives, our vision of success is different. It’s about letting things flow—working with our energy, not against it, and taking breaks when our bodies and minds ask for them.

Success, for us, isn’t driven by fast-paced growth or constant engagement. It’s driven by balance, patience, and understanding that real success comes when we allow ourselves to thrive on our own terms—whether that means powering through a productive day or giving ourselves permission to take a step back and rest.

We’re in This Together

So, as we reflect on this past week and celebrate Mental Health Awareness month, we want to normalize the ups and downs. It’s okay to have rough weeks. It’s okay to feel uninspired or emotionally drained. But above all feeling embraced as you navigate this journey is our dream for you. We mention this so often, and everyday it makes more sense-when women rise to lift each other up, it’s a powerful movement! Every woman deserves women friends…

If you feel that this is the kind of friendship you want to nurture, we want to personally invite you to join our Lola’s Tribe private group. We’re all about creating a supportive community of women who know how to shine when they can and rest when they need to. Together, we’ll grow, share, and thrive in both our personal and professional lives—always celebrating each other, ourselves and our unique rhythms. Come be part of a space where we embrace growth with ease and flow!

Love,

The Lola Ladies
