Starting something new can feel incredibly daunting, especially when you’re not brimming with confidence. But here at Lola Thrives, we’ve faced our own limiting beliefs head-on, and we want to share our journey and tips to help you take that leap of faith, too.
When we first conceived the idea of Lola Thrives, we were filled with enthusiasm but also plenty of self-doubt. Questions like “Who are we to write about this?” and “What if no one cares about our content?” plagued our minds. It was as if a chorus of limiting beliefs was determined to keep us from pursuing our vision.
But we embraced our fears and took small steps forward. Here’s what we’ve learned about pushing through that wall of self-doubt:
1. Embrace the Fear:
Acknowledge your fears and recognize that feeling scared is part of the process. Use that fear as a motivator rather than a roadblock. For us, admitting we didn’t have all the answers actually freed us to start learning as we went.
2. Take Small Steps:
We began by setting manageable goals. Each blog post was a small victory, reinforcing our belief that we could grow Lola Thrives into a valuable resource for women.
3. Focus on the Process:
Instead of fixating on the end result, we found joy and learning in the act of creating. This shift in perspective allowed us to grow and improve continually without the paralyzing fear of failure hanging over us.
4. Seek Support:
The support of our community and each other was invaluable. Whether it’s friends, family, or online groups, surrounding yourself with a supportive network can make all the difference. For us, the encouragement from our readers and collaborators has been a cornerstone of our progress.
5. Visualize Success:
We regularly visualize what success looks like for Lola Thrives. This mental imagery not only motivates us but also aligns our daily actions with our goals.
6. Practice Self-Compassion:
We learned to be kind to ourselves along the journey. Mistakes and setbacks are part of growth, and treating ourselves with the same compassion we offer others helps us maintain our resilience.
7. Keep the Momentum:
Once you start, don’t stop. Even on days when your confidence feels low, keep moving forward. Consistent action, however small, builds the path to bigger successes. For Lola Thrives, persistence has been key to overcoming dips in confidence.
If you’re wrestling with self-doubt or struggling to start something new, remember that overcoming these limiting beliefs is a journey. Take one step at a time, embrace your fears, find joy in the process, and lean on your support system. Before you know it, you’ll look back and realize how far you’ve come.
